Neonatal Intensive Care Unit graduates invited to holiday party
VALPARAISO, IN (December 2, 2016) – Staff with Porter Regional Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit are pleased to invite all children who have graduated from the unit to the annual NICU Holiday Party. The event is free for NICU grads and their immediate families.
Santa is scheduled to make a special appearance, and families can reconnect with each other and the NICU nurses and staff. Light refreshments will be served.
The event is from 1-3 p.m., Dec. 11 in the Porter Regional Hospital Community Room (enter through the Cardiovascular Center doors), 85 E. US Highway 6, Valparaiso.
Porter Regional Hospital’s advanced Level II+ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit puts babies who are born at high risk in the hands of a specialized neonatology team within seconds of delivery. In the unit, 14 individual, private rooms are specially equipped to help control environmental stimuli such as lighting and noise, and the unit offers places for parents to stay and learn more about their babies before they go home.
Many parents and babies on the unit become a “family” of their own, having spent many days and nights together while the babies heal and grow. Staff members on the unit strive to create opportunities such as the Holiday Party for parents and families to network, share their experiences, celebrate milestones, and support each other.
