Porter EMS hosts 2nd annual Turkey Bowl Flag Football tourney for 500 Turkeys, Inc.
11/8/2017
Valparaiso, Ind. – ‘Tis the season for turkey and football, and Porter EMS is delivering. The community is invited to come cheer on their favorite first responders and fire and medical professionals in the 2nd Annual Turkey Bowl Flag Football tournament to benefit local charity 500 Turkeys, Inc., which makes thousands of Thanksgiving meals available to families in Porter County.
The event starts at 10 a.m., Nov. 11 at the Wheeler High School Football Field, 587 W. 300 N., Valparaiso. The weather is expected to be cloudy with some sun, and about 40 degrees – perfect fall football weather.
This year’s event pits Porter EMS and other teams against each other in a tourney sure to entertain. Teams so far include the Porter County Sherriff’s Office, Lakes of the Four Seasons Volunteer Fire Force, Ivy Tech Community College, Porter Regional Hospital, and IN Health. Others may join before the tourney. For information on having a team, call Porter EMS at (219) 464-9663.
Those attending to cheer on the teams are invited to bring canned goods that 500 Turkeys, Inc., will give to families as part of their massive effort to feed Porter County families this holiday season. A silent auction and drawings are part of the event, and all proceeds benefit 500 Turkeys.
Porter EMS recently won a national AMBY award from the American Ambulance Association for their community outreach and charitable efforts in the county above and beyond offering 911 and transport services. Turkey Bowl is just one example of the many efforts that Porter EMS participates in to make our communities a better place.
